Description: The Barnacle Blenny is a peaceful reef fish that is mainly carnivorous, but its small size prevents it from being a real threat to even the smallest of reef invertebrates. This fish originates from the Eastern Central Pacific, specifically around Panama and Costa Rica. They're usually found inhabiting empty barnacle shells and worm or mollusk tubes in shallow reef flats. The Barnacle Blenny is beige-gray in color with a dark brown mottling on the body. There is a dark brown spot found behind the eyes. They also sport red highlights on the dorsal and pectoral fins, the iris of the eyes, and the mouth. This fish also has an entertaining personality, where they will reside in the rocks or burrows and quickly dart out during feedings. The Barnacle Blenny is hardy and will readily eat all prepared foods. This makes it an awesome choice for beginner aquarists keeping a pico- or nano-aquarium. Be sure to provide ample rockwork for this fish to find a place to reside. A tight-fitting lid is strongly recommended as this fish can easily jump out of the aquarium.
