COURSE DESCRIPTION

Any outdoor activity we participate in requires navigation. A simple day hike, exploring a new forest, walking through a city. Although many of us have gotten used to our phones leading the way, we can teach you how to make your own path. Our Navigation Course will teach the fundamentals of direction and travel and then progress to more advanced skills such as utilizing maps, route planning, and how to use a compass to its maximum potential.

With our bushcraft navigation classes, you can eliminate your fear of the unknown. The wilderness is full of learning opportunities, and we provide navigation courses to help you lead the way. Not sure how to use a compass or read a map? We'll cover everything you need to know to navigate the great outdoors.

Many people think a "sense of direction" is something you're born with. After our navigation class, you can feel confident in your directional skills, no matter where you are. Whether you're a hunter, hiker or casual adventurist, we can teach you the basics of off-trail navigation and self-reliance. 

With our bushcraft navigation course, you can walk away with a better sense of:

• Confidence: With the proper tools, no road is a dead end. We help you find your way around anything so you can feel confident in future situations.

• Safety: Getting lost is inconvenient and unsafe. Our navigation class teaches you how to find your way home using manufactured and natural resources.

FIELD AND CLASSWORK

In bushcraft, it's all about the fieldwork. Students learn by doing, so we teach navigation through scenario-based exercises and training. In our bushcraft navigation class, you can expect lessons on:

• Terrain Association
• Map Creation
• Traveling in a Woodland Environment
• Overview of Survival Skills

• Suunto MCB Compass
• Notepad
• Pencil
• Water Bottle

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Students will move around the school property throughout the day at a moderate pace.

• Students will be permitted to camp on-site between Day 1 and Day 2 of the course, but it is not mandatory. 
• PortaJohn Bathrooms are available on-site 
• Students will have access to their vehicles during class. 
• We suggest packing nonperishable foods/snacks for the day - convenient during break times. 
• Please bring 1-2 gallons of water to stay hydrated.
• An email with more details about the class will be sent one week prior.
